Guildford NCT branch is run by a group of volunteers, who are all mums themselves. We cover Guildford and the surrounding villages and offer a wide range of services and support for all parents - take a further look!

We are continually running antenatal classes for up to 8 couples in the area. The classes are organised so that you will be with others due to have their baby around the same time as you. The classes are designed to give you the information you need to make informed decisions about choices in pregnancy, childbirth and very early parenthood and are a great way of meeting other mums. Classes get booked up very quickly so do ring as soon as you are interested! We have a designated phone number to take class bookings: 0870 421 1908.
The NCT's range of nursing bras are extremely comfortable and very good value. We have trained fitters who can help you to select the right size and style for your needs. You can be fitted for bras from 36 weeks pregnant.
For more information, or to book a fitting, call 0870 421 4780
Breastfeeding is ideal for babies and sometimes you need a bit of help. We have trained breastfeeding counsellors (mothers who have breastfed their own babies) who can offer information, practical help and support. This service is free and available to all mothers.
We have a number of electric breast pumps that are available to hire. These are particularly useful for helping to feed premature or sick babies.
If you are feeling a bit uncomfortable then a valley cushion might help. It is specially developed to relieve the pressure on stitches, tears, bruising and haemorrhoids. We have several available for hire.
Our antenatal teachers and breastfeeding counsellors undergo a thorough training with the NCT although they are not required to be medically qualified. All teachers and counsellors are expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in maternity care and must register with us every year. Their role is to offer support, information, practical skills and resources to help parents make informed choices for themselves and their babies. They do not offer medical advice and parents are asked to take any questions about the medical care of mother and baby to their midwife, health visitor or doctor.
The branch has a growing library of books relating to pregnancy, childbirth and parenting that are free to borrow before or after the birth of your baby.
Members receive a quarterly newsletter packed with articles, details of events and a useful advertising section.
If you would like to talk to someone who has faced the same challenge/worry as you then you might like to use our experience register. We have a list of local people who have experienced a wide range of situations and are able to support others who may be having a similar experience.
Our nearly new sales are held twice a year usually in March and October with an additional Nearly New Toy sale in November. They are an excellent source of second hand clothes, toys and equipment for babies and young children as well as maternity wear.

Becoming a mum can really turn your life upside down especially if it's your first baby. Having no family close by or being new to the area can be unsettling too. Gaining friends with children the same age can make life much more enjoyable and provides an opportunity to share experiences from birth to potty training and beyond. This is where we come in; we run a number of events for you to choose from and you would be very welcome at any of them!
The branch is run entirely by volunteers and we are always looking for more people to help! Volunteering can be really rewarding and here are some other good reasons to start:
There are all sorts of roles to be filled and jobs to be done. Any time (however little) you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Call us on 0870 460 9631.
